1. Legally Compliant Data Collection

Rentem collects personal and rental data strictly in accordance with applicable data privacy regulations. We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate our property management platform, verify user identity, process transactions, and facilitate communications.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with Rentem, we collect:

  • Account Credentials: Full name, email address, phone number, and account role.
  • Property Records: Addresses, rent amounts, lease terms, and maintenance tickets.
  • Payment Identifiers: Transaction reference numbers required for rent reconciliation.

3. How We Use Your Data & Communication Channels

Your data is strictly used to deliver core platform functionality, enable security, send essential notifications, and fulfill statutory obligations. We do not sell or monetize your personal data.

4. WhatsApp & Transactional Notifications

Rentem utilizes WhatsApp (via Meta Platforms / WhatsApp Business API) as an authorized communication channel to send real-time, non-marketing transactional notifications, including:

  • Rental Agreement e-Signing: Secure links for tenants and landlords to review and electronically sign lease agreements.
  • Payment Receipts & Invoices: Instant digital confirmation receipts upon rent settlement.
  • Rent Due & Overdue Notices: Automated reminders and UPI payment links sent on behalf of property managers/landlords.
  • Maintenance Updates: Status changes and notifications regarding property repair requests.

Opt-In & Consent: We only send WhatsApp notifications to users who have explicitly provided their phone number and opted in via our website (e.g., during account registration, request access forms, or agreement generation).

Opt-Out Mechanism: You can opt out of automated WhatsApp transactional notifications at any time by replying "STOP" to any message received or by emailing privacy@rentem.in.

5. Software Subscriptions & Web Checkout

All Rentem software subscription tiers (such as Starter, Pro, and Enterprise plans) and platform billing are processed exclusively through secure web checkout on https://rentem.in. Rentem does not sell software subscriptions through native WhatsApp Catalogs or in-chat digital storefronts.

6. Data Protection & Security

We employ industry-standard encryption (TLS/HTTPS in transit and encrypted storage at rest) to protect your data against unauthorized access.

7. User Data Deletion & Retention

Users may request permanent deletion of their account, personal identifiers, and rental records at any time by contacting privacy@rentem.in with the subject line "User Data Deletion Request" or by visiting Data Deletion Policy. All personal data is purged within 30 days of verification, except records required to be retained by applicable statutory regulations.
